West Port Book Festival Poetry

As Ryan is away in Italy at the moment, our very own Peggy Hughes takes over the podcast reins for this week. She selects her poetry picks from last year's West Port Book Festival - Jack Underwood, Robert Alan Jamieson and Mike Stocks - and previews this year's poetry line-up at the West Port, which features some top quality free events from 24th - 27th June. Presented by Peggy Hughes. Special Guest Star: Ryan Van Winkle. Produced by Colin Fraser. Music by Ewen Maclean. Email us: splpodcast@gmail.com

About West Port Book Festival

The West Port is Edinburgh's Soho, a heady mix of booze, bosoms, bespoke tailoring and books. It would almost be churlish not to celebrate this profusion of pages so we run an annual book festival that plays out over 10 wonderful West Port venues, ranging from singular second-hand bookshops to crisp art spaces and whisky-scented pubs. This year's festival will run from 24 - 27 June.

A Light Song of Light

A Light Song of Light sings in the rhythms of ritual and folktale, praise songs and anecdotes, blending lyricism with a cool wit, finding the languages in which poetry can sing in dark times. Kei will be appearing at the West Port on Saturday 26 June at 7pm, alongside Ewan Morrison.
