Ryan Van WinkleRyan Van Winkle

The Scottish Poetry Library podcast series is introduced by Ryan Van Winkle, the Scottish Poetry Library's Reader in Residence.

Ryan is game to do whatever it takes to get people reading poetry. He'll be working on the same model as the Scottish Arts Council's Writers in Residence, spending half his time working on projects and sessions and half his time on his own writing. But where Writers in Residence are there to help people to write, Ryan will mainly be encouraging everyone to read poetry. He's working face to face with readers in the City Libraries and at the Scottish Poetry Library, and going outside the library environment too - he's been reading with children in care homes, dishing out poems at the Farmers' Market, taking a Poetry Army of volunteers to give out National Poetry Day cards...

Ryan has been a member of the Forest Cafe, helping run this collectively-owned arts space and cafe, as well as an editorial assistant with Edinburgh Review, and is heavily involved with workshops and publications. He is a graduate of the University of Edinburgh's creative writing degree, and of Syracuse University.

Colin FraserColin Fraser

The Scottish Poetry Library podcast series is produced by Colin Fraser.

Colin produces the podcasts, usually on a Tuesday when Ryan comes round to his sunny Tollcross flat for tea and recording. Colin peddles his trade in social media, and has worked with a number of organisations to produce podcasts, up their profile on social networks and manage their Twitter accounts for various campaigns, including the recent Carry A Poem initiative, StAnza: Scotland's International Poetry Festival and the world's first Literary Twestival. His previous area of expertise was Artificial Intelligence, where he was involved with eDemocracy, Computational Linguistics, Medical Informatics and Philosophy. He is also editor of Anon, a poetry magazine based in Scotland.

Ewen MacleanEwen Maclean

The music for the Scottish Poetry Library podcast series is written and produced by Ewen Maclean.

Ewen writes and plays the incidental music in the SPL and StAnza podcasts. He plays regularly around town with various groups, usually of the jazz variety, and often writes for other projects. He is invariably to be found vigilently monitoring the quality of local real ale establishments, often ably assisted by Colin and Peggy.
