Chatter and Verse (Edinburgh City Libraries poetry discussion group)

We meet in the old Fine Art office in the Central Library on George IV Bridge (just ask for directions when you arrive). Refreshments are on hand in case you've not had your tea!

Mitchell Library Poetry Reading Group

This new poetry reading group meets in the Mitchell Library and uses the 'Shared Inquiry' method - so you don't need to know anything about the poems in advance, just come along and take part. Two poems are read every session.

When: First Thursday of the month

Time: 6-7pm

Brookwood Reading Group

The Brookwood Reading Group meets every fourth Thursday, and sometimes includes poetry in its reading choices. Please call the Library for more information.

Kirkintilloch Evening Reading Group

This reading group sometimes includes poetry, and recently had an author visit by poet David Kinloch. Occasional joint evening meetings with all Kirkintilloch reading groups. Call the Library for more information.

Lerwick Bookgroup

The Lerwick Bookgroup has approximately fifteen members, reads all sorts of books and occasionally poetry. Some members borrow from the library, some prefer to buy. The library can usually supply multiple copies of local books, including poetry. Members bring along a random selection of food and drink!

The group meets around once a month, dates decided meeting by meeting, members informed by e-mail or postcard and dates posted on the library noticeboard and on the library web site.

When: Variable

Time: Usually meet at 7.30pm, finish about 9 or 9.30pm

Buckie Library Poetry Group

We have a poetry group that meets every month at Buckie Library. The meetings are open to any member of the public who enjoys listening to poetry or writing poetry.

Three members of the group write their own poetry. The following month's theme is decided at each meeting and sometimes there is no specific theme. There is no cost to join the group, and tea/coffee and biscuits are provided free of charge.

When: Meets on the last Thursday each month throughout the year

Time: From 2.30pm until 4pm
