Shetland Library Lerwick, Shetland

The Shetland Library has not only recently extended its own collection of poetry, which includes a Scottish Poetry Library collection, but it promotes a popular programme of events including poetry readings and workshops.

The Scottish Poetry Library collection arrived in 2003, celebrated by series of poets' readings including W N Herbert and Gerry Cambridge.

Shetland Library is one of the first three hosts of Scottish Poetry Library collections to have a Poet Partner, and Jen Hadfield is working with the Library and with Shetland Arts to extend the range of ways that Shetland's readers and writers enjoy poetry.

The Scottish Poetry Library collection will have its own space in the annual Shetland book festival, Wordplay, on 8 and 9 September.
